11/2/1937/2012 – Earl (Speedo) Carroll of The Cadillacs &
The Coasters

Paul Simon recorded a couple of Pop/Doo Wop style
records as Tom And Jerry
11/5/1947 – Especially for Denny Black, Peter Noone of
Herman’s Hermits (77). Yeah, I know he doesn’t fit in with
the music we love but he is one of my friend Denny Black’s
favorite singers so I thought I’d throw it in here
11/6/1942 – John Henry Ramistella, you know him better as
Johnny Rivers (82)
3. Significant events this week in music history:
11/3/1962 – He’s A Rebel – The Crystals reached #1 in the
USA. What’s significant about this is that The Crystals didn’t
sing on that record. Phil Spector was aware that Vicki Carr
was releasing the song and wanted to beat it’s release and
the Crystals had had hit records so he put their name on the
label because he felt it would boost sales.
11/5/1971 – Elvis Presley was in concert in Minneapolis, MN
and when he left the stage the audience kept chanting for
an encore. In order to get the crowd moving out of the venue
Elvis’ management announced “Elvis has left the building”
and a tradition at Elvis Presley concerts was born.
